Busy Doing Nothing

Once again it has been a while since I posted a blog.  It seems I get so tied up in doing stuff that I forget to tell you about it.

Well it has been a pretty busy time working on custom orders

developing workshops with the lovely Dawn over at Rosewill Cottage and working with some lovely new ladies doing one to one sewing lessons.

I seem to be turning my hand to all sorts of things from alterations to soft furnishings including making some huge sofa cushions for a lady who wanted to give her sofa a bit of a makeover.  Very make and mend as we used some fabric from a gorgeous pair of curtains that she no longer needed.

I have started to take the make and mend theme as a bit of a challenge and no one is allowed to throw out old clothes before I have tried to make it into something else, salvaged the buttons and trims or decided it really is beyond rescue.  Look out for a new make coming out soon for Daisy Green Magazine which will give you some great ideas to recycle old shirts and blouses.

Have you been following the Great British Sewing Bee, hasn't it been fun and it is fabulous to see very talented sewers demonstrating their skills.  I loved them all but I do hope I am able to sew every day still at 80+ years, not to mention the yoga!  Say what you like about these shows and the format I am all in favour of anything that gets people making things. It is so rewarding in this fast paced world to get that sense of satisfaction.

Most recently I have been asked to get involved in Sunderland's Vintage and Retro Festival I will be there with my sewing machine,

vintage of course, to alter, customise or rework your vintage finds.  There are so many fab clothes from all the decades but body shape has changed over the years.  We had great fun on Monday putting together the press shot.

I hope you will put this one in your diary and I hope the purists out there will forgive the vintage era mish  mash but you needed to see the range of vintage inspiration that will be on offer.

Happy Sewing.
